The Dallas Stars recalled defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka from the AHL Texas Stars on Sunday.
The Stars also placed right wing Valeri Nichushkin (groin) on injured reserve. He hasn’t played since Oct. 11.
The Stars’ website reported that Dallas lost defenseman Patrik Nemeth to an arm laceration early in the first period of Saturday’s 6-5 overtime loss to Philadelphia.
“We’ll get you an update on Monday, but he is going to be out a good period of time,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said.
With Nemeth out, Ruff said that Jamie Oleksiak is the leading candidate to jump into the lineup. Ruff said the Stars also are expected to recall a defenseman from the Texas Stars of the AHL.
Jokipakka, 23, has appeared in three games for Texas this season recording one point. which was a power play goal.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Tampere, Finland, was selected by Dallas in the seventh round (195th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
