Letters to the Editor

Amendment required

In reference to the “Regarding abortion, Davis is as ‘extreme’ as Abbott” column by Cynthia Allen, there is no shame to being extreme when preserving the rights of Americans.

The shame is on the politicians who want government to have “eminent domain” over a female citizen’s uterus. We own our bodies. They do not belong to the government.

Allen addresses “a shared belief at some point during a woman’s pregnancy, the state has an obligation to protect the life of an unborn citizen.” The 14th Amendment grants citizenship upon birth, not before. “Unborn citizens” do not even exist.

An American’s right to abortion is protected by our Constitution. Removing this right legally requires our Constitution to be amended.
