Jessica Smith loves the live music at Bronson Rock Burgers & Beer.
And its location.
And its hassle-free experience.
“It’s intimate but it’s casual,” said Smith, who was at the Keller hotspot recently listening to the band Dream On pound out some Classic Rock. “I don’t have to drive too much and it has everything I’d want from any other music venue.”
Keller, in general, Smith says, is a great place to go to enjoy live music on an intimate, yet casual level.
Bronson Rock, at 250 S. Main St., is one of the most popular spots in Keller, featuring live music every day but Tuesday, which is open mic night.
“It’s just fun listening to some good rock music in a bar with your friends but it’s not crazy or full of troublemakers,” she said. “I try to come here whenever I can and always have a good time even if I don’t know the band that’s playing.”
There are indoor and outdoor stages and patrons walk freely throughout the building between the stages and the bars.
“It’s a personal experience that’s different from going to a huge venue but still really fun and relaxing,” said Joey Shields. “The music is always different so a lot of different people can enjoy it but you’re still going to get that quality. Sometimes I want to go out but don’t really feel like dealing with a lot of traffic or thousands of people in a crowd so this is like the perfect thing.”
Rock duo Hair Ballad Allstars is on stage on Mondays, playing Classic Rock from the 1970s and ’80s, stripped down into a quirky, yet punchy acoustic set. Fort Worth native Justin Ross takes the stage every Wednesday night, mixing country with old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll, and shares the stage with a special guest.

Fridays through Sundays welcome regular local acts like Big Mouth, Saints Boulevard, 57 Sauce, Me and Pooch, KP & The Kingpins and more.
“It’s not wild and crazy, but people need a place to go that’s a downtown experience close to home,” Bronson manager Tonya Taylor said.
Another live music giant is Keller Tavern at 128 S. Main St., which welcomes late night jams every day but Monday and Wednesday. Much like Bronson Rock, Keller Tavern has a local acoustic duo, Cody Chance and Dusty Smirl, who hang out and play for several hours every Tuesday, swapping songs from country to classic rock and modern hits.
Thursday through Saturday guests can expect a new performer on the indoor stage but the musical style changes with the mood. The bar and restaurant has had acoustic nights, pop nights, classic rock nights, retro and variety nights. Cover band Velvet Love Box is a Tavern favorite as well as San Angelo natives Whiskey Skyline and groovy soul rockers Thieves of Sunrise.
If you want to take the kids out for a night of musical fun, restaurants Judge Beans at 314 N Main St. and La Casita at 111 W Vine St. also welcome live music every Friday and Saturday.
Country tunes and tracks from the 1970s and ’80s are what you’re going to hear at Judge Beans on Fridays and Saturdays, which holds an area for guests to listen to the live band while eating, playing pool or shooting darts. The “family oriented restaurant and venue” in Old Town is open without a cover charge, general manager Al Mema said.
La Casita takes pride in its family oriented atmosphere as well and boasts the biggest patio in Keller, owner Mohammad Varta said.
The Mexican restaurant also features live music every Friday and Saturday but doesn’t have a set genre for any particular night. When you walk into La Casita, expect anything from jazz, classic rock, pop, country or a live DJ set, Varta said.
“We’re always looking for locals in the area to play for us,” Varta said. “We like helping to get their name out there in the city.”
La Casita has welcomed local and area favorites Acoustic Shade, Aurora Bleu, the Rockaway Boys and more.
The restaurant is looking to expand live music nights to Thursdays and Sundays.
And if karaoke and a live DJ are more your thing, Chow N Chill Bar & Grill at 1632 Keller Parkway has both every Friday and Saturday night.
