Capt. Gil Miller shared some insights on the inner workings of the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base to a group of about 40 attendees during the Colleyville Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association meeting on Oct. 16.
Miller serves as commanding officer at the base, formerly known as the Carswell Air Force Base, and focuses on security and law enforcement. He shared stories about working with various military organizations and civilians on the base.
The base can be compared to a small city, complete with marina, grocery store and more. He said one of the things that has surprised him is that there is a shoplifter caught in the base’s businesses at least once a week.
Hurst resident Weldon Roberts came to hear Miller speak because he and his sister were born at the base.
“It was a chance to hear from the captain about my heritage,” he said. “I’m happy to hear that it’s staying a viable part of the community.”
