Keller-area residents can soon have their cake and catch a movie, too.
Keller’s first movie theater, a "family-focused brand" of dine-in cinema, plans to open early next month.
The Moviehouse & Eatery will open Nov. 7 at 250 Rufe Snow Drive.
It’s one of the first dine-in movie theaters in Tarrant County and an "ideal" fit with Keller, said Mark McLaughlin, Moviehouse & Eatery’s director of operations.
"Picking Keller (for its next location) was really a no brainer," McLaughlin said. "It’s what Moviehouse is all about, and it’s a great town."
McLaughlin said many factors – including location, population density, median income, distance from other theaters and the city’s willingness to have the new theater – helped bring the new theater to the town. Plus some personal connections to Keller in ownership and management -- the general manager of the Keller location, Chris Rowand, is a 20-year Keller resident – made the decision easy, McLaughlin said.
The 42,000-square-foot location, with 900 leather recliner seats in eight theaters, will have full food and beverage service to moviegoers.
Moviehouse & Eatery claims an "American Classic" menu created by Executive Chef Brandon Hanna. The menu has vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Moviegoers can request a server to come to their seats with the touch of a button.
Guests can eat at the restaurant without seeing a movie, and soft drinks, popcorn and candy concessions also will be available in the lobby.
McLaughlin said while Moviehouse is the most "family-focused brand of all dine-ins," the theater will have R and PG-13-rated films, as well.

"If they’re rolling it out in theaters, there’s a good chance we’ll have it," he said. "We like to give the audience a broad base of options."
McLaughlin was confident that Keller-area residents who try the theater out will be "blown away by the value."
Moviehouse & Eatery’s Keller theater will be its second location, with plans to open one in Flower Mound next year.
